Lionfish invasion disrupts ecosystems outside indo pacific habitat

"In many parts of our blue planet the predatory lion fish is an invader. The lack of natural enemies allowed its population to explode and thereby led to a replacement of existing species. However, the Indo-Pacific is its natural habitat. Interestingly, it is not yet fully understood why its populations there are stable and under natural control. It is one of the most beautiful reef creatures but be careful when getting closer. As a member of the scorpion fish family they are carrying a set of poisonous stings in their fins. Among all my encounters in the ocean only lion fish tent to actively sting you when entering their comfort zone. So be safe out there and keep respectful distance to marine life."🤙🏾
