HAECKEL’S JELLYFISH
This is Pseudorhiza haeckeli, commonly called Haeckel’s Jellyfish, and this species is found in temperate/sub-tropical Australian marine waters 🇦🇺
This species was first described by Wilhelm Haacke in honour of his mentor Ernst Haeckel!
It’s quite a unique looking jellyfish with a colourful tail which trails below the jellyfish! The length of this tail varies depending on the individual as it is easily damaged! This species reaches a bell diameter of ~40cm/15in!
