Churchill is situated in the Auroral Oval, making it an excellent location for viewing the northern lights, or aurora borealis. Up to 300 nights per year, the northern lights can be seen in Churchill.
Because Churchill is a prime location for viewing the northern lights, you can see them while visiting during beluga whale (June to September) or polar bear season (October and November). The clear, dark skies of February and March are ideal for viewing the northern lights.
