Prehistoric giant goliath grouper populations rise after near extinction

Prehistoric giant. Goliath grouper, which can grow to 8+ feet in length and weigh 800 pounds, are rarely seen on dives these days. They are critically endangered due to rampant overfishing in the past. Fortunately, the populations of these massive groupers are on an upswing due to educational programs, fishing regulations and their inclusion in protected marine areas. Such beautiful animals and certainly worth protecting.
