A castell is a traditional human tower built at festivals in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, and the Valencian Community. Several colles castelleres attempt to build and dismantle the structure of a tower at these festivals.
In 2010, Castell was added on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a “integral part of (Catalan) cultural identity.”
