The Luna moth (Actias luna), also known as the American moon moth, is a Nearctic moth belonging to the family Saturniidae, subfamily Saturniinae, also known as the giant silk moths. It possesses lime-green wings and a white body. It has a wingspan of approximately 114 mm (4.5 in) on average, but it can exceed 178 mm (7.0 in), making it one of the largest moths in North America.
