🟣 PURPLE STRIPED JELLYFISH 🟣
The purple striped jellyfish, Chrysaora colorata, is a species of scyphozoan jellyfish found along the coast of California!
It grows to be 70cm/27in wide and gets its nickname for obvious reasons! This species when young appears pinkish with dark maroon tentacles and change to the pictured purple colour when it reaches its adult stage!
They have an association with young cancer crabs which eat parasitic amphipods that cause damage to the jellyfish in return for a safe haven from predators!
