The rare Mimic Octopus inhabits the sandy seabeds but also river mouths of the Indo-Pacific region. As its name tells us, its special skill is mimicking other marine species such as flounders, lion fish or sea snakes. The cephalopod's ability to fake the physical appearance of dangerous sea animals is not only a protective mechanism! It is also the reason why it is one of the most wanted models among underwater photo-/ videographers from all around the globe.
