Risso’s Dolphins spotted in Monterey Bay 🐬 Risso’s dolphins have a distinctive appearance – with a large, rounded head, a tall dorsal fin, and a light-colored body covered in a complex pattern of scars.
They are named after French naturalist Antoine Risso, who first described the species in 1812. Risso was a physician and zoologist who conducted research in the Mediterranean Sea and identified several new marine species during his career.
