Box jellyfish venom attacks heart nervous system and skin cells
Box jellyfish (Cubozoa) are infamous for their overpoweringly painful venom, which is considered to be among the most deadly in the world. Their venom contains toxins that attack the heart, nervous system, and skin cells.
Box Jellyfish are relatives of true jellyfish, but have a cubic bell and tentacles extending from each lower corner. Unlike true jellyfish they have complex eyes and are active swimmers who are known to avoid obstacles and chase after prey.
