Great potoo largest species of potoo with remarkable camouflage

This large-eyed, nocturnal predator is a great potoo (Nyctibius grandis). During the day, these potoos are usually seen perched upright high above the ground. They are often overlooked as their camouflage resembles upright on a tree stump.

The Great Potoo is the largest potoo species in the world and is widely distributed throughout Central & South America — nesting in the region’s humid to semi-humid forested habitats.
