Meteora in greece is home to one of the most important monastic communities

Meteora, a few kilometers north of the Thessalian plain, is home to one of the most important monastic communities in Greece. Six of the eight monasteries of the area are still in operation, and Meteora was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
