Águila Arpía or Harpy eagle🦅

This bird is found in the sparsely inhabited tropical forests of Central and South America. It prefers heights that reach between 600 and 2000 meters above sea level. In this environment they locate spaces close to the ground to be able to hunt more easily
They are monogamous. They live between 35 and 45 years, which means that a pair of Harpy Eagles can stay together for 25 to 30 years. Instead of migrating, they stay in one place and clearly delimit their territory, preferring areas with tall trees that provide them with enough food.
The females are bigger than the males. At her best and in full flight, an adult female can hunt prey weighing up to three kilos and carry it to the nest without landing. The males, on the other hand, do not attack prey weighing more than two and a half kilos.
The Harpy Eagle is recognized as an ecological detective. The presence of this bird in a place indicates that all the species present in the ecosystem are in total balance.
