National geographic розповідає про незвичайного вовка з довгими ногами
The maned wolf is neither a true wolf nor a fox. Instead, it’s the only species in its own genus, Chrysocyon, meaning “golden dog.”
With long legs that help it see over tall grasses, this solitary hunter is active at dawn and dusk in South America’s grasslands. It feeds on small mammals, birds, fruits, and plants, including the lobeira, or “wolf apple,” which may help control parasites.
Elusive and rarely seen, the maned wolf communicates through scent markings and is known for its unique “roar-bark” that echoes across its territory.
