This meerkat was captured in Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, one of the largest salt flats in the world, located in the Kalahari Basin.

This vast, salty area was once a large lake that dried up thousands of years ago. The salt pans are part of the meerkat’s range, as they live across many dry regions in southern Africa.
