Bears use paws to swim and have fat layer for warmth and buoyancy
When the cubs start swimming, they use their paws to move through the water. It's important to note that bears are excellent swimmers: their body and paws are well adapted for swimming. Bears also have a layer of fat that helps them stay afloat and keep warm. Scientists have noticed that cubs begin to show interest in water at a young age, and over time, with practice, they become more confident swimmers.
