Don’t let the looks fool you… the warthog is built for battle. 🐗
Those large “warts” on a male’s face aren’t just for show; they are thick pads of skin that act like armor, cushioning blows and protecting the eyes during fierce fights with rivals.
And then there are the tusks: the upper pair can grow up to 60 cm (2 ft) long, used both as weapons and for digging. Despite their bulky build, warthogs are lightning quick, able to sprint at 50 km/h (31 mph).
