Raccoons are intelligent, agile, and primarily nocturnal animals. In spring, the female gives birth to a litter of two to seven kits. At birth, the kits are blind and lack their famous “mask.”
Around 6 to 8 weeks of age, they begin to explore the surroundings under her watchful eye. By about 10 weeks, they start leaving the den more regularly, gradually learning to feed themselves.
