A capybara sounds the alarm as jaguars approach in the Pantanal, Brazil.

Capybaras use sharp barks and whistles to warn others of danger. When threatened, they often move into deeper water, where they can swim efficiently and keep only their eyes and nostrils above the surface.

Jaguars are strong swimmers and frequently patrol rivers and wetlands in search of prey. The capybara remained alert until the jaguars moved away.
