G7 foreign ministers called for “humanitarian pauses” in the fighting in Gaza in order to allow more aid to enter and to help protect Palestinian civilians. The statement, released after a two-day meeting in Tokyo, added to international pressure on Israel to relent in its monthlong assault on Gaza.
