A Newly Identified Virus Emerges From the Deep

Marine virologists have made a groundbreaking discovery from the Mariana Trench, the deepest place on Earth. They've identified a new bacteriophage from sediment samples taken from a depth of 8,900 meters. This phage infects Halomonas bacteria, commonly found in deep-sea environments and near hydrothermal vents.
