👐 OpenAI May Open Source Its Older Models

To mark the release of the o3-mini, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and other company executives personally answered questions from Reddit users during the Ask Me Anything session.

We should expect significant updates from OpenAI, along with possible changes within the company.

🛑 DeepSeek is a very good model, said Sam Altman. He promised that OpenAI will introduce even better AI models but admitted that maintaining a competitive edge is becoming much more challenging.

"I personally think we have been on the wrong side of history here and need to figure out a different open source strategy," Altman shared.

The company may release the source code of its older models, though open source development is not currently a top priority.

🛑 GPT-5 is coming and will feature an improved voice mode, but according to Altman, there is no timeline yet.

🛑 A new version of DALL·E is expected in a few months, said OpenAI's Chief Product Officer Kevin Weil.

🛑 OpenAI is also working on implementing file attachments to reasoning models, expanding the context window from 128k to 1M tokens, and developing new AI agents.

🛑 The Plus subscription will remain at $20/month, and OpenAI even hopes to lower the price over time.
