🗼 Tor Alva: The Tallest 3D-Printed Tower in the World

On May 23, the remote Swiss village of Mulegns unveiled the world's tallest 3D-printed structure — the 30-meter Tor Alva, or "White Tower." Starting July 2025, it will host concerts and performances, becoming a fully functioning cultural space.

The project was developed by the cultural foundation Origen in collaboration with ETH Zurich, one of Europe's leading technical universities. Architects Benjamin Dillenburger and Michael Hansmeyer took inspiration from baroque architecture. They reimagined it through the language of algorithms and concrete.

All 124 parts of the tower were printed with soft concrete by a custom robot — the process took 900 hours—no scaffolding or formwork. Inside are abstract halls and spiral staircases. At the top is a concert platform overlooking the Alps.

The whole structure is modular, and in five years, the creators intend to disassemble and relocate the tower.
