💡 Has AI Made Vocational Schools Relevant Again?
The traditional formula of recent decades, "degree + corporation = stability", is beginning to crumble, according to The Annual Blue Collar Report. Researchers surveyed future graduates and their parents about how AI influences career choices.
➡️ Only 16% of parents believe higher education ensures long-term employment. 72% discussed with their children about how automation might affect their employment.
➡️ More than half admit that fear of AI affects the advice they give, and 57% are sure the job market will be unrecognizable in ten years.
➡️ Only 18% believe in the future of software developers, 14% in data analysts, and 11% in accountants.
➡️ 40% of parents believe they would encourage their children to study a trade if it helped them become more resilient to AI. Carpenters, plumbers, and electricians are the most "AI-proof" jobs, according to them.
➡️ Still, over 70% of Gen Z and 63% of their parents perceive vocational education as inferior to university degrees. Researchers attribute this to a lack of awareness about trade professions.
Who do you think holds the future?
