🎓 A 15-year-old PhD from Belgium Dreams of Creating "Superhumans"

15-year-old Laurent Simons recently defended his doctoral thesis in quantum physics at the University of Antwerp, becoming one of the youngest people in history to earn a PhD.

Laurent is now enrolled in a second PhD program in medical science and AI. He dreams of inventing a "magic pill" for immortality and "creating superhumans."

💡 The child prodigy with an IQ of 145 was born in the Belgian town of Ostend. He was raised mainly by his grandparents, who noticed early on that the boy was extremely quick to grasp complex information. His mentor, Professor Peter Baltus, later confirmed this talent.

Lauren finished high school at the age of eight and enrolled at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands at the age of nine. A year later, he transferred to the physics department at the University of Antwerp, which he completed in a year and a half instead of the usual three, writing his master's thesis on the analogy between boson states and black holes.

During his internship at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, the 12-year-old boy worked on developing algorithms to detect colorectal cancer early.

"I think I'm having more fun than other children, because other children need to be there from eight until five o'clock, at school, and then they have homework and exams…very busy…I have freedom. I have much more freedom," Laurent said in an interview.
