❗️ Tim Cook Steps Down as Apple CEO
The corporation announced that Tim Cook, who has led the company for the past 15 years, will become Apple's Executive Chairman effective September 1.
The 65-year-old Cook will be succeeded as chief executive officer by 50-year-old John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering.
Under Cook's leadership, Apple's market capitalization grew from $350 billion to $4 trillion.
ℹ️ Rumors that Ternus would become Apple's next leader had been circulating since last year.
Ternus has been with Apple since 2001, working on the company's flagship products, including Mac, iPhone, iPad, and AirPods, and overseeing the groundbreaking iPhone Air and MacBook Neo.
Cook reportedly values the "engineer at heart" Ternus for his ability to present and his cautious approach to decision-making.
🔄 In his statement on the appointment, Ternus kept things general, expressing "optimism about the years to come." But his first and defining challenge will be Apple's standing in the AI race. More precisely: whether Apple can compete on equal footing, or whether it will bow out for good.
