🤖 This Chess Robot Moves Pieces And Explains Every Move
SenseRobot has launched a crowdfunding campaign for Chess Mini, a compact version of its AI chess coach. The robot plays on a real board, moves pieces by itself, and explains its moves out loud.
It tracks the board with computer vision and moves the pieces using precise robotic arms. Its built-in AI model can discuss strategy, point out mistakes, and hold a conversation in English, French, and German. The training library includes more than 1,200 exercises and 145 endgame scenarios. It can also connect to Chess.com and Lichess, letting users play real online opponents on a physical board.
✈️ Chess Mini is a portable version of the larger SenseRobot Chess model, which the company showed at CES 2025. SenseRobot positions it as a more affordable home version. Early reviews praise the tactile learning format, but are more cautious about the software: in blitz games, for example, online services may not always account for the time robotic arms need to make a physical move.
➡️ The preorder price is $399. First shipments are planned for July 2026.
