🦁 Dwarf Lion’s Mane 🦁

This is the scyphozoan jellyfish, Cyanea versicolor, sometimes referred to as the Dwarf Lion’s Mane Jellyfish!
It is certainly tiny in comparison to the Lion’s Mane Jellyfish reaching only a 12cm/5in wide!
Interestingly, this species name, versicolor, has a latin meaning of having colours that change, and indeed the colours of this jellyfish do change between life history stages!

It’s planula larvae are yellow, which develop into ephyra which are pink, and finally into the medusae stage that you can see in the video which contains a range of colours including red, pink, brown and sometimes purple!
