Matschies tree kangaroo endemic to huon peninsula with only 2500 adults left

Say hello to the Matschie's tree kangaroo! This species is endemic to the Huon Peninsula of New Guinea, but is named after a German zoologist named Paul Matschie. Sadly, it is estimated that there are only around 2,500 adult Matschie’s tree kangaroos left in the wild due to habitat loss, human consumption, and animal trade.
