A visit from baby sea lion in Ecuador!
Sea lion pups are born covered in a soft, dark chocolate to black baby hair known as lanugo. Within the first six months, they shed this fur twice to develop a stronger, lighter or darker brown coat similar to adult sea lions. Born with their eyes open, pups call to their mother almost instantly after birth. Despite some initial unsteadiness, they are able to walk and self-groom within 24 hours of birth.
