Pygmy seahorses camouflage with soft corals and have higher survival rate

Pygmy seahorses are is covered in tiny bumps called tubercles which help them camouflage with soft corals. Despite being one of the smallest species in our oceans, they actually have a higher survival rate than many other seahorse species due to their expert level hiding in natural settings – they did after all manage to keep humans in the dark about their existence until 1969!
