Lion prides are family units. A pride may vary in size from just a couple of lions to dozens of lions. But even in a large pride, there still may only be one dominant male — known as the pride male. 🦁
A pride male is expected to be a strong defender of the pride’s territory and its cubs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Marking the area with urine, roaring menacingly to ward off intruders, and chasing off any animals that may encroach on their turf.
