Bank SMS scams: Companies urged to sign up for SMS registry, restrain use of SMS
Speaking in Parliament, MCI minister Josephine Teo said IMDA may make the SMS registry mandatory so businesses who do not join it will have their SMSes appear only as phone numbers.
She also said organisations should use more restraint when transmitting sensitive, confidential information or high value transactions, noting that the SMS system is an old technology that was never designed for secure communications.
