👐 OpenAI Unveils AgentKit AI Agent Builder and ChatGPT Apps

At their annual DevDay conference, OpenAI demonstrated how ChatGPT is evolving from a simple assistant into a full-fledged platform. Sam Altman emphasized that creating software no longer requires programming skills—just an idea.

💡 Latest ChatGPT stats: 800 million weekly users, 4 million developers, and 8 billion tokens processed via API per minute.

What Was Showcased?

➡️ ChatGPT Apps: Now, you can interact with external services directly within ChatGPT. During the presentation, they showed how to take Coursera courses while asking GPT-5 clarifying questions and creating summaries (Coursera's stock jumped 6% during the demo). Other partners include Figma, Canva, Spotify, and Booking, with plans to expand the list. Apps are supported even on the free plan.

➡️ AI Agent Builder: Using the new AgentKit tool, a fully functional AI agent—with tools, hallucination safeguards, and a testing interface—was created live in just 8 minutes. The service is based on building blocks that users can chain together. You can create your own agents entirely without code.

➡️ Codex for Everyone: The AI coding assistant is now available to all ChatGPT users. During DevDay, an OpenAI employee used it to write a program that controlled stage lighting and cameras via an Xbox controller—without manuals or setups. According to Altman, Codex isn't just for programmers: an 89-year-old Japanese user created 11 apps for senior citizens using it.

➡️ Powerful Updates to the API: OpenAI introduced GPT-5 Pro, Sora 2, and Sora 2 Pro. Without much fanfare, they also released gpt-image-1-mini—a lightweight and more affordable version of the AI-powered image editor.
